On October 3rd, 2008, the Franciscans of Western Canada, properly known as Christ the King Province, celebrated their 100th anniversary in western Canada with a gala dinner at the Northlands Agricom in Edmonton, Alberta.  The event arrived after months of preparations by the Centennial Gala Steering Committee, led by Teresa Haykowsky and Tim Spellicey, as well as by many others who assisted behind the scenes to raise money from sponsors and to promote and sell tickets for the one time only event.

Discernment Week a Joy
They came from Vancouver, Saskatoon, Calgary, Leduc, and Edmonton.  On January 23, 2009, they came to spend a weekend at the franciscan house of formation in Edmonton, Alberta.  

Dubbed a “live in” by franciscan brother James Rodrigo OFM, the weekend offered as a many as 8 men the opportunity to see first hand what the franciscan life is all about.
