An entry from the St. Anthony’s College 1943-1944 yearbook, recalls a scarlet fever outbreak at the school:
April 30 – Flash! Stand by for news! Scarlet fever epidemic strikes College. Five, ten, fifteen down; one teacher is of the number. Quarantine, temporary suspension of classes. Then the situation was brought under control; a whole floor of the building was isolated and turned into a hospital. Fr. Walter, infirmarian, was heroic.
