70 Years of Retreats at Mount St. Francis

Mount St. Francis Retreat Centre welcomed over 300 people who came to celebrate its 70th anniversary on Sunday, August 18th. The retreat centre officially opened its doors August 15, 1949.

At the end of the liturgy, Susan Campbell, director of the retreat centre, spoke of the mission of the Mount as being a spiritual centre for peace, healing and prayer. She invited everyone to a barbecue provided by the kitchen staff. Friars from throughout Holy Spirit Province were present as they were gathering for their annual retreat led this year by Fr. Ron Rolheiser, O.M.I.

The Bishop of Calgary, Most Rev. William McGrattan, presided over the Celebration of the Eucharist in the outdoor pavilion.

Friar Kevin Lynch and Victoria Brilz, apostolic trustee for Cochrane, welcomed the participants and thanked them for the faithful support they have provided these many years.
