Solemn celebrations in honour of Saint Francis

Solemn celebrations in honour of Saint Francis

The Franciscans of Saint Joseph Province of Eastern Canada are organizing, in their respective communities, celebrations on October 3 and 4 to commemorate the death of Saint Francis (who died on October 3, 1226, in Assisi) and his passage from earth to the house of the eternal Father (also called Transitus, a Latin term meaning “passage”).

Tuesday, October 4, at 7 p.m.
A Eucharist and solemn vespers will be held at the church of the Franciscans of Lachute. This mass, which will be more elaborate than usual, will be celebrated in a way that promotes Franciscan values that live on today, such as humility, modesty and love of nature. A reception, with coffee and cookies, will take place after mass.

The fraternity is located at 250 Providence Blvd.
