On Feb. 20 -23, St. Francis Friary in Edmonton, Alberta, hosted a “Come and See” weekend. Three inquirers attended and learned about the Franciscan friars and their ministry. The gathering was led by the vocation team, Brothers Carlos Ona and Joachim Yoon. The weekend program was quite packed. Of course, communal prayer and meals framed the days. For one meal, they went to the Marian Centre and served. They also visited different sites in Edmonton, including the Royal Museum, the old Franciscan friary in Edmonton, and one of the oldest Franciscan parishes in the area: Our Lady of the Angels Parish in Fort Saskatchewan, AB. Taizé prayer, card games, the movie “The Way” and a Salt&Light video about the Franciscans of Canada filled the evenings. The experience concluded with a mass at Annunciation Parish, where two of the inquirers participated in the Choir.
