The ministry of our brother Benjamin Ripley, who is part of our Franciscan Friary in Trois-Rivières, was recently acknowledged by the community in La Tuque that he has begun to serve on a part-time basis.
Father Benjamin Ripley, OFM, has recently settled near La Tuque, Quebec, and is quickly becoming a familiar face among the local parishioners of Saint-Martin-de-Tours. The local news outlet, “Mon La Tuque,” featured an article on him, detailing his journey from a Canadian Armed Forces sailor to his ordination as a priest on November 4th last year.
Ripley, who has been a Franciscan brother since 2010 and became a deacon in 2022, is noted for his unique background and dedication to serving small communities. “I hope to serve for many years. Every parish needs a pastor.” he shares with the author.
Despite being a native English speaker, he has embraced life in predominantly Francophone areas, making significant efforts to improve his French and connect with the locals. His bi-monthly visits to the Port of Montreal to provide spiritual care underline his ongoing commitment to his roots in the navy, showcasing his multifaceted approach to ministry and community engagement.
